Thirty years ago I watched my mother get married in the living room of our home. I remember her getting ready in her bedroom as I sat on the bed watching her sisters slip in and out. I watched as my granddad walked her down the hallway to my dad. The reception at my grandmother's house that my mom and her friend Juanita catered and decorated; it was not an elaborate affair by any stretch of the imagination, but it was a room filled with people who loved them both enough to crowd in our home to witness.
Fast forward to when I was about ten years old witnessing my mother give my sister a beautiful wedding. She learned to bake a multi-tier wedding cake and to put flower arrangements together for boutonnieres and bouquets. I tagged along with them as she and my sister went from place to place finding just the right rental details to pull together one of the largest weddings in our family! She later pulled all of that talent to use for my cousin's wedding. I remember being in the room with my cousin and asking my aunt to put lipstick on her while I snapped a few photos with my cell phone. Although I did not have a camera in my hand during either of those weddings, those details I can visualize just like it was yesterday. (Only if I could draw, lol).
